Ovidio Hinojosa

Associate Strategy Director

Ovidio joined Drake Cooper in 2025 as a freelancer covering a maternity leave, but his sharp thinking and roguish charm made the arrangement permanent. As Associate Strategy Director, he partners closely with clients and cross-functional teams across brand strategy, qualitative and quantitative research, creative briefing, marcom planning, data analysis, multicultural marketing, social strategy, and more. In short: if it requires connecting dots and clarifying direction, he’s in.

He began his career in digital and social strategy in Dallas, working on brands like Avocados From Mexico, Takis, and Texas Instruments before shifting into brand strategy in Seattle for clients including Pabst Blue Ribbon and the Seattle Sounders. Now based in Portland, Oregon, he continues to help brands—from QSR to healthcare—find their voice and sharpen their positioning.

Outside of work, Ovidio plays music and maintains a five-year-old sourdough starter named Breaddie Mercury, which—unlike most bands—has only gotten better with age.

Q&A

What is your greatest fear?

Spiders. But I know phobias are irrational, and spiders do get a bad rap. I recently learned that when you see cobwebs, that means a spider died or lost its way back home because normally, they’ll come back for their webs and pack them up for the next nook or cranny they want to hang out in. They can’t be that bad if they’re considerate enough to pick up after themselves.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I once spent $400 on a Lego piano. I could’ve bought a used real piano for less than that.

Who are your favorite writers?

Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut might be the most important book I’ve ever read. It’s hilarious, heartbreaking, and deeply angry at the world for not being a kinder place. I read it as a teenager and it was instrumental in shaping my moral compass.

Who is your hero of fiction?

Gomez Addams. He loves his family and shows it every opportunity he can, actively encourages his kids to be true to themselves with his full support, and warmly welcomes strangers into his home. Also, he’s a snappy dresser. Sounds like the perfect man to me.

What is it that you most dislike?

Spiders that don’t pick up after themselves.
