DC Labs: Art, Commerce and Muah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

One of the greatest drivers of innovation is taking complex topics and making sense of them. Innovation is disruptive, it takes grit, and sometimes it’s a little messy, which might explain why some of the biggest breakthroughs happen in a garage, and where some of the best bands get their start. DC Labs gives us a chance to get our hands dirty and experiment in an environment that encourages indie thinking that’s one part edgy, one part innovative and two parts swagger. We create new products, launch new ventures, and experiment with new technology. As we move forward into 2018, we wanted to share some of the cool, innovative stuff DC Labs is cooking for the new year.

Analytics As A Second Language

Some muckety muck from the early 20th century famously said, “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don’t know which half.” Well now, using artificial intelligence and natural language processing we can analyze a client’s web data and deliver a weekly report that lets a client know exactly how things are performing. And all of the insights come in easy-to-understand human language…well I guess, robot language posing as a human.

Your Dream Home in a Snap

CBH Homes is Idaho’s largest homebuilder who pride themselves on giving homebuyers the opportunity to design their homes with “wall-to-wall you.” Utilizing Snapchat’s newly-released AR program, we are designing Snapchat lenses that let the user drop a small 3D model of a home in their environment right from Snapchat.

Digital Media Grows Up

As digital advertising “grows up,” the entire industry is under the microscope and advertisers are calling for some accountability. DC Labs is creating new tools and developing a methodology that can limit ad fraud, bot traffic, and hidden views.

Content, Made Fresh (and Relevant) to Order

Our audiences have become curators of information, making context and relevance more important than ever. So rather than placing a bunch of banners with static content that needs to be updated manually, we’re serving ads dynamically on Facebook that will show users relevant homes to buy (CBH) or current CD rates (ICCU) in real-time.

Chat With Our Travel Agent

You only get #18Summers to make memories with your kids. With the virtual travel agent chatbot on visitidaho.org, you can make the most of your visit to Idaho. After a short Q & A, you’ll get a personalized list of adventures you and your family will enjoy.

These are just a few of the forward-thinking projects under the hood of our invention engine for 2018. Stay tuned for more innovation from DC Labs in the future (of course). In the meantime, we’ll be out in the proverbial garage perfecting our maniacal mad scientist laugh, and using everything we know and everything we learn along the way to invent, innovate, and experiment.
