SILVER Bicycle Friendly Business

We love cycling and we love being part of a movement that encourages a healthy and active lifestyle. Taking a moment of our day to spin a chainring can bring clarity to an otherwise stressful day. Parking and traffic become a non-issue when choosing the bike commuter way of life. We find camaraderie riding to after work events, just getting out with friends for a trail ride, and fierce competition for summer mileage.

Simply put, cycling is part of our culture.

Congratulations to our Drake Cooper family for being awarded “SILVER Bicycle Friendly Business,” by the League of American Bicyclists. This is momentum forward for our team, as we have been recognized at the Bronze level last and previous years.

PRESS RELEASE — November 11, 2013

Drake Cooper named a SILVER Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists

Washington, D.C. – November 7, 2013 – It’s simple: Bikes are good for business – and their employees. Bicycles are helping to drive economic development across the country, and they’re creating a more energized, alert and productive workforce for the companies that have embraced bicycling.

Today, the League of American Bicyclists recognized Drake Cooper with a SILVER Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) award for leading America toward a more sustainable future.

With the announcement of 90 new BFBs today in 29 states and Washington, D.C., Drake Cooper joins a visionary group of more than 600 local businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies across the United States that are transforming the American workplace.

“Businesses like Drake Cooper are leading the way to a healthier and more sustainable future,” said Andy Clarke, President of the League of American Bicyclists. “While helping boost the economy in their communities, Bicycle Friendly Businesses are also investing in a happier and more productive workforce.”

Happier and healthier employees come to work more energized and leave the office excited to be biking in the great Idaho outside. Drake Cooper is located just a few blocks from the Boise Greenbelt, a staple for bike commuters in the community and the company encourages bicycling as an easy option by providing showers, bike storage and Green Commute dollars available to any employee that arrives at work via any alternative source of transportation.

An avid bike commuter, road and mountain cyclist, CEO Jamie Cooper commented, “Boise is possibly the most bikeable community anywhere. With a flat landscape downtown, a nearly 30 mile Greenbelt along the Boise River and surrounded by mountains – we are living in bike heaven. My best thinking always happens when I’m peddling a bike.”

Now, Drake Cooper will have access to a variety of free tools and technical assistance from the League to make biking even better at Drake Cooper.
